What is the PTO?
PTO stands for Parent Teacher Organization. We are a group of dedicated parents and faculty at Walden Elementary School working together to promote the very best in academic opportunities for our students. We organize and promote programs that will enrich our students’ curriculum and make learning interactive and fun! The PTO funds special assembly programs, field trip transportation, kindergarten welcome packages, family fun events, and more! We have been able to purchase a rock climbing wall for the gym, a Star Lab planetarium, a stage and playground equipment for WES. Every time you support a PTO fundraiser by purchasing something, donating items, supporting the book fair and picture day, or by volunteering your time at an event, you become a very important part of our dedicated team.
How to Join
A form is sent home at the beginning of the school year. But you can join the PTO at any time by sending in a note including your name, phone number, email address, child’s name, grade and teacher along with the $10 membership fee. (The fee is per family, per year) Please address the envelope to the WES PTO and your child’s teacher will pass it on to us.
Our Mission
The purpose of the PTO is to enhance and support the educational experience at Walden Elementary, to develop a closer connection between school and home by encouraging parental involvement, and to improve the environment at Walden Elementary through volunteer and financial support.
Meetings
All meetings are held at 7 pm on Thursday evenings in the WES cafeteria. Please enter through the back door located on Maple Street. Please use the parking lot on Maple Street. Specific meeting dates are available on our Facebook page and in our newsletter. Meeting dates are subject to change.

WES PTO Lifetime Achievement Award
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has provided outstanding service, who always goes the extra mile, and who has had a positive impact on the Walden Elementary School community. The award is given only to an individual and includes school staff, parents or community members. PTO membership is not a requirement.
