Celebrate Prom Safely: Tips For Talking To Your High Schooler

Tips for parents/guardians to make sure your student has a positive time at and after prom:

  1. Vehicle Safety

Make sure that rules are set around the number of individuals in a vehicle, the names of individuals in the vehicle, and how many students can safely fit inside the vehicle.

    1. Set a Curfew

Based on the hours of prom, make sure to establish a fair curfew.

      1. Consequences

Make sure that your student understands the consequences of breaking curfew, drinking after prom, and making unhealthy choices.

        1. Check in with Them

Check in with your teen through a text or call to ensure that they are safe. Be aware of where they are and who they are with.
