The Board of Education will comply with State mandated hours of administration of Regents examinations, Regents competency tests, and proficiency examinations as indicated on the examination schedules and examination booklets. Therefore, should a student arrive late to a Regents examination, he or she will not be entitled to additional time to finish the exam unless the student can demonstrate that his or her tardiness is due to extenuating circumstances.
A student who has been ill, injured, or is a student with disabilities may be allowed additional time to complete his or her exam. The Building Principal has the discretion to allow the student reasonable time to complete the examination.
Students who are tardy to Regents competency tests and proficiency examinations will be allowed as much time as needed to complete the examinations.
The Board also recognizes that the use of accommodations provides students with disabilities the opportunity to demonstrate proficiency on State examinations without being limited or unfairly restricted by his or her disability. Therefore, students with disabilities who take the Regents examination, Regents competency test and/or proficiency examination must be provided with the testing accommodations included in his or her IEP or Section 504 Accommodation Plan that are permissible on State examinations.
