It is with pride, joy and excitement that Valley Central School District celebrates VCHS senior and trumpet player, Amelia K, on being selected to represent our district at the 88th Annual NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) All-State Convention in Rochester, NY Dec. 5th-8th.

Thousands of musicians auditioned for his honor last spring at NYSSMA Solo Festivals across the state.  Amelia was one of the top trumpet players in the state to be selected to participate at the festival in the Wind Ensemble. It is no surprise that Amelia was given this honor as her musical resume is quite impressive!

Amelia has consistently performed in All-County events through OCMEA annually as well as represented VCHS at the NYSSMA Zone 9 Area All-State Festivals. As a junior, Amelia’s outstanding NYSSMA Score allowed her to be accepted into the NYS Band Directors Association (NYSBDA) Symposium Honors Band.

Amelia also auditioned for the Performance Honors Series which allowed her to take her playing to Carnegie Hall as well as London England where she performed in a band with other outstanding musicians from around the world.

At Valley Central School District, Amelia is an outstanding section leader in our Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. She is also treasurer of the TRI M Music Honor Society and Jazz Band.  Amelia’s journey to being at the NYSSMA Conference All-State Festival is a testament to her hard work and resilience.  The countless number of hours spent preparing for auditions and NYSSMA Solo evaluations over the years lead to this great honor.  Amelia deserves to be celebrated for the dedication and commitment she has shown to her craft!  Outstanding job, Amelia!
