Dear Parent/Guardian,
I hope that you and your family have had an enjoyable and peaceful summer vacation. I trust that your student is well rested, recharged and ready for a new school year. As a reminder, the 2024-2025 school year begins on Thursday, September 5, 2024. During the first week of school, students will report to a special occasion homeroom on September 5 & 6, 2024, with a modified bell schedule which will be posted on the website. Homerooms are arranged by grade and last name. The lists will be posted on the High School website (www.vcsd.k12.ny.us) by August 30, 2024 and will be posted throughout the building. On Monday, September 9, 2024, our regular bell schedule will resume. Classes begin at 7:15 AM and the day ends at 1:57 PM.
An automated call will go out to notify parents when schedules can be viewed/printed on the Parent Portal. Schedules will also be distributed in homerooms on opening day.
We will continue to implement safety measures this school year. Students will be provided with an ID and lanyard on the first day of school. Students will be required to wear their ID at ALL times while on campus.
We will begin this year with our current cell phone procedure which allows students to use their phones within designated areas of the building. Students who are misusing their cell phone during the school day may be subject to discipline. Please be familiar with the procedure which is found within the Student Handbook. Please be reminded that our goal is to actively engage our students in the learning process.
All incoming ninth grade students and new students are invited to attend Freshman/New Student Orientation on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 8:30 – 10:30 AM (Last Name A-M) or 12:00 – 2:00 PM (Last Name N-Z). Orientation will include an introduction to Valley Central High School, a tour of the building, and a presentation about making choices for the future.
The High School Open House will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM. Please come and visit your child’s classes and meet their teachers. The High School Guidance Department will also be hosting their annual Senior Parent Night at 5:30 PM in the auditorium. As a reminder, progress reports and report cards are posted on the parent portal throughout the year.
