Nov. 28, 2016 - Threatening statement found to not be credible
This morning, Nov. 28, Valley Central High School (VCHS) officials became aware that a VCHS student was overheard by other students making a threatening statement towards the school. Immediately, district officials contacted the Town of Montgomery Police Department, who launched an investigation and determined that the threat was not credible, and at no point were any students or staff at risk.
The district acted in an abundance of caution. The safety of our students is the district’s top priority, and it is our policy to fully investigate, in collaboration with the Town of Montgomery Police Department, any threat or rumor. We ask district families to continue to reiterate the seriousness of making threatening statements, even in jest, and to always speak to the district’s administrative team if they overhear any threatening statements, no matter how trivial the statement may seem. When it comes to safety, it is always best to act out of an abundance of caution.
