As part of the district's mission to empower students to make positive, healthy choices, Valley Central School District will host a series of workshops centering on substance abuse. These workshops will help educate district families on the dangers, signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol abuse.

A Collaborative presentation between ADAC’s Executive Director, Jim Conklin, Representatives from the Assistant District Attorney’s office and the Office of Orange County Director of Chemical Dependency Services that discusses the rapid progression from prescription drug abuse to heroin addiction and the often deadly consequences.
Parents Who Host Lose the Most
December 14, 2016, Valley Central Middle School Cafeteria ~ 6:00 p.m.
Discuss the issues surrounding underage drinking, the consequences associated with parents hosting underage drinking parties in their home, and the legal ramifications associated with such events. A representative from the Orange County District Attorney’s office will also be available to give specific information surrounding Orange County’s new Social Host Law passed on March 17, 2016.

An interactive “Teen Bedroom” in which parents can search for and find many hidden drugs, paraphernalia items, and drug references with an informative presentation on specific items to look out for, and where they can be purchased, either online or right here in Orange County.

Signs and symptoms of substance use & abuse, what to do and where to turn when a family member or friend recognizes their loved one is suffering from substance use disorder or addiction. This presentation is appropriate for families to attend together.
