Parental involvement and a home/school partnership is key to the success of our students here at Montgomery Elementary School and our Annual Family Math Night is just one of the many events that the school hosts to support this partnership.
Approximately 60 families came out on a cold January evening to attend the school’s annual Family Math Night. This event was coordinated and facilitated by a team of ten teachers along with the support of administration.
The event was aligned with the school’s Improvement Plan that includes an action plan to improve student math achievement. The goal of the evening was to convey to families the important role they play in their child’s study of mathematics. The event's coordinators planned activities to show parents ways they can support mathematics learning at home using games, interactive websites and simple materials they may already have available.
Parents and their children were actively engaged in playing games and participating in activities that support math instruction and the standards.
