THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THE VALLEY CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT.

PROCEDURES ARE OUTLINED BELOW TO ASSIST YOU IN THE APPLICATION PROCESS.

 

 1.      APPLICATION FORM

 

The application form must be fully completed, even if a resume is submitted. Please submit application package in person or to the address on the application. We do not accept applications that are faxed or emailed.

  

The District cannot accept any type of personal photos for inclusion in an applicant’s file.

 

It is suggested that applicants retain a copy of their application for future reference.

 

 2.     REQUIRED ITEMS

 

Instructional Applicants must submit an instructional application, cover letter, resume, certification in applicable subject area (or evidence of pending certification), transcripts and a minimum of three individually signed letters of recommendation.

 
Substitutes must submit a substitute application, a minimum of three individually signed letters of recommendation, and 3 stamped envelopes.

 

Administrative Applicants must submit an administrative application, cover letter, resume, certification in applicable subject area (or evidence of pending certification), transcripts and a minimum of three individually signed letters of recommendation. Applications are only accepted for posted vacancies

 

Professional Applicants must submit a professional application, cover letter, resume, certification in applicable area (or evidence of pending certification), transcripts and a minimum of three individually signed letters of recommendation. 

    

Non- Instructional Applicants must submit a non-instructional application and letters of recommendation.

 

Once submitted, all materials including reference letters, resumes, and placement files are considered confidential and the property of the District.  They will not be released to the applicant or third parties. (The Human Resources Office cannot make copies for applicants.) 

 

Hiring is contingent upon results of successful background checks and confidential reference checks.

 

 3.     TRANSCRIPTS (Instructional, Administrative, and Professional Applicants)

    
         Transcripts must accompany applications from each college/university.  The transcripts must show course work, hours and grades.

 

Unofficial transcripts will be accepted for review of an application.  However, official transcripts must be on file upon recommendation for hire.

 

It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the application form, transcripts, resume, reference letters, and a copy of required certificates are on file with Human Resources. 

 

Placement folders are optional.  
 

 4.     NEW YORK CERTIFICATION

 

If applicable, submit a photocopy of your valid New York certificate(s) to the Human Resources office. Applicants must possess or demonstrate eligibility and application for certification prior to hire.

 

 5.     RETENTION OF APPLICATIONS

 

Administrative, applications are kept only for the specific recruitment.   New applications are required for each subsequent professional opening.

 

Instructional and Professional applications will be active for 12 MONTHS.  Then, it will be necessary to send in a new letter of interest or notify Valley Central of your desire to keep your application active

 

Non-Instructional applications will be active for 12 MONTHS.  Then, it will be necessary to send in a new letter of interest or notify Valley Central of your desire to keep your application active.

 6.     SUBSTITUTE INFORMATION

 

Applicants must submit a complete substitute application packet which includes a cover letter, resume, application, transcripts and three letters of professional references.  Candidate application packets will be screened and successful canidates will be contacted.
 
Substitute teachers do not have assurance of a minimum number of assignments.  Employment is strictly on-call.

 

 7.     IMMIGRATION LAWS

 

Immigration laws require that we employ only those individuals authorized to work in the United States.  Candidates must submit required documents if they are recommended for hire.

 

 8.     BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION

 

Any individual recommended for employment with the Valley Central School District must be fingerprinted  unless fingerprint clearance is on file with SED.  References from former supervisors and employers will be checked.
